Start and Sit Suggestions for Week 9

Start/sit day is here! Week 9 of the NFL season is a mere 3 days away and I'm already getting some lineup questions from some of you dedicated readers out there. Fortunately, there's a bevy of start and sit sites to read and even MORE fortunately, I'll be doing my synopsis again tomorrow in case you just want to read up on the consensus start/sits for week 9.
  • I think I've made it clear several times that the FF Goat is a great resource - and once again, he doesn't disappoint. Read the Goat's Fantasy Football Start 'em Sit 'em and Sleepers for Week 9 post. Those of you who just picked up Ryan Grant may be sorry to see who is listed under the Goat's sit 'em suggestions....
  • FF Geek Blog's Studs and Duds: Week 9 - note that they have decided not to focus on players in this week's big game - NE at Indy. So don't be startled that your favorite Colt or Patriot isn't on this well done list.
  • FanNation's Start 'em, Sit 'em: Week 9 has listed the greatest kicker ever, Jason Elam, as a sit. I know, a kicker? Most of you are probably rolling your eyes at my Elam lovefest here, but the guy is a manimal. Have you seen the number of game winning/tying field goals he's had this year? Much less his monster leg that has withstood the test of time? Right.
  • Every week FanProphet puts together his "The Gospel" series - check out the RB and QB posts, which include projected fantasy points.
  • Get your podcast on with the Bruno Boys' Week 9 Start 'em or Sit 'em suggestions.
  • FootballDocs' Fantasy Football Week 9 Bench/Start - they aren't the only ones to suggest Adrian Peterson should ride the pine this week...
  • CoachBox's Week 9 Start/Bench Recommendations - I love seeing Tony Scheffler's name on their TE Start list week after week. Note they include both team defenses and IDPs.
  • FF Toolbox's Week 9: Start 'em - Deion Branch is coming back, baby. Or is he?
  • Try Ask The Commish's Sit or Start for Week 9 - poor Donald Driver...what exactly happened up there in GB?

No way you sit Adrian Peterson. Sure, you lower your expectations since the matchup is brutal but unless you've got a lesser back with a great matchup (e.g. Kevin Jones v. Denver) you start AP every week.

Sure you can justify playing him every week because of his big play ability. However, he's not getting the ball enough and they do play a great Chargers defense. On the other hand, you can make a case for AP no matter who he plays. He'll have a good game this week again.

Great call on benching Adrian Peterson...not like he broke the rushing record or anything....
There were a handful of start/sit sites that recommended benching Adrian Peterson - though if you check my post about consensus start/sits, you won't see AP's name on there since only a handful listed him under sit. And I am SURE they are kicking themselves today. But was 296 yards and 3 TDs really something anyone anticipated??

As both fantasysportsmatrix and fanprophet pointed out with great foresight, you start AP no matter who they play.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha
