Beer + FF = hot times

If I love beer, I can only imagine that the vast majority of you all love beer as well (however in an interesting side note, according to research conducted by the Fantasy Sports Trade Association in 2007, 21.4% of fantasy football players don't drink beer). So when I received an e-mail this morning about a Redhook Brewery sweepstakes, I immediately started paying attention. Enter to win the Redhook Fantasy Football Trash Bash and you might be taking home a Redhook Toolbox Fridge and other prizes. My husband has been angling to spend our tax rebate check on a mini kegerator...now while I'm all for beer, there are probably about 50 other things that we could do with that money first. So if I could win the Redhook fridge, I'd be a step closer to making his beer dreams come true.

Onto our next link of the day - what goes better with beer and football than kids? Hmm. Right. Well this next link might be of interest to those of you with little ones who would like to get them involved in fantasy sports - FamilyFantasySports.com. As the founder of the site notes, "sports have always been something that parents and their kids could share and use to build stronger, healthier relationships" so why not get in on some free family-style fun for the fantasy season? Since my only children at this point in time have four legs and fur, I won't unfortunately won't be signing up, but I'd certainly like to hear about it if any of you do since one day I'm sure to force my future children into it (a recipe for success, right?).

A few blog posts ago I mentioned that I'll be starting up a weekly column on the Bruno Boys, which will be called A Librarian's Touch. Originally I had hoped to get that up today but due to my inability to schedule my time with any sort of skills whatsoever, I am falling behind. I do hope to have it up over the next 24 hours and will be posting a link to the column from here when it's up. In the meantime, entertain yourself with results from the four-round mock draft that the Bruno Boys and I are both participating in - here's a link to the results from the second round.

All for now - I've gotta go work on that column!

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this...

I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha...
