Preseason winding down

Happy Friday. With all but three preseason games left, things are really picking up in fantasy draft land. I know I'm more than halfway through my drafts but have two more to look forward to this weekend. I will also be spending some time this weekend updating my average draft position spreadsheet that so many of you have asked for. I should have the updated version up on Monday, Sept 1, so please feel free to e-mail me if you'd like the new version when it's available.

Now to fantasy links for the day:
  • Brandon Marshall's suspension is down to just one game. Everyone around me in Broncos Country is celebrating and FFFools has some thoughts up on this turn of events.
  • Did you hear that Dungy will be shocked if Peyton doesn't play the regular season opener? Or that Sam Hurd is injured? Or even that Kevin Curtis was injured many days ago now? If you've slacked on fantasy news up until now, don't worry, there's still time to catch up. Just don't forget to check out headlines before and after you draft to stay on top of player news - lots of good sites for this put today I'll recommend Ask The Commish's NFL and Team Headlines.
  • FFXtreme's free article of the week is a quick guide to Handcuffing Your Players in 2008. I'm becoming more and more of a fan of Ray Rice and Rashard Mendenhall - and in one of my drafts I even tried to pick up Jamal Lewis' backup, Jason Wright, but that was mostly a personal pick on my part since Wright is a fellow Northwestern alum of mine (but I was already maxed out on my RBs permitted on the roster, sadly).
  • While browsing through the FFToday articles I found myself clicking on The Gut Check column's Q&A with the founder of WomenAgainstFantasySports.com. I was amused by the banter and mostly I think I just enjoyed taking a little time off of reading about injuries, rankings, sleepers and other articles of that ilk. I confess that even I (gasp!) hit a saturation point with fantasy content.
Happy long weekend!

I can't believe the drafting season is almost over! I finally know where to slot Selvin Young! :)

What is your opinion on being "that guy" who steals another persons handcuff? In round 11 of a 12 person draft (122 overall pick) I ended up taking Chester Taylor.

Now I know stealing another persons handcuff is frowned upon in the FF world, but seriously, he left Taylor go until round 11.

My overall goal is to end up trading him to "Mr. Takes AP Round 1.01" but i may end up keeping him if I can not extract what i want for him. But now i am rambling, back to my original question...

What is your opinion on being "that guy" who steals another persons handcuff?

With the release of Rudi Johnson who will be the starter. I have heard that Perry will be starting but I just don't see it.

Either way how valuable do you think the new starter will be in the fantasy world?

Thanks for the link. I'm not going to lie...I'm really pumped about the Brandon Marshall suspension change. I think he could be big this year. Unfortunately, I was only able to get him in one league because of all the hype.
First, on being "that guy" who snags a handcuff...if you're taking Chester Taylor in the 11th of a 12th round draft, then the AP owner had it coming. I am an AP owner in one league where I narrowly missed out on getting Taylor in the 9th round (of 17 rounds though, I think) and while I wasn't very excited about "that guy" grabbing Taylor one pick ahead of me, I also think I probably deserved it for waiting one round too long. So you might be considered a minor jerk for doing it but all's fair in love and fantasy football.

Now as for Chris Perry - I am personally a big fan of Kenny Watson. I say that knowing that Perry is the preferred back there right now but I just have a gut feeling that Watson will be the one with more yards and playing time in the end. But I know some of you disagree with me on that - we'll see what happens! This is exactly the kind of thing that makes FF interesting...

And Jacob, I am all about Marshall, too. The one game suspension makes him quite valuable in my book - worthy of drafting as a top 10 WR for sure. Go Broncos!

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha
