Super Bowl fantasy prep begins

It is a crime that I am stuck in an office today; it is supposed to be 71 degrees - 71!!! - here today in Boulder and there's such a nice warm air blowing in through my window. Maybe I can take my laptop outside and just call the great outdoors my office for the day. Trust me, I'm pretty grateful for the awesome weather we have plus I leave for Tampa on Monday for the Fantasy Sports Trade Association conference...so in one week I'll be staring at the ocean. Life is so good.

So I'm partaking in a mock draft organized by the Bruno Boys, which FFXtreme is chronicling here. Take a look if you're interested. How did I do with my first round pick of DeAngelo Williams? I was 4th overall and think that might have been maybe ever so slightly early to take DWill, but frankly there wasn't anyone else that I was super confident about either at the 1.04 spot. Now I'm wondering whether I'll take another RB or a WR next...you can join FFXtreme's forum discussion on the draft if you'd like to make your voice heard.

Onto other links for the day:
  • KFFL is keeping the rankings coming - their player rankings by position for the Super Bowl are up though it's kind of amusing to have just a 2-player ranking as in QB. More to read at least with the RB, WR and TE rankings.
  • If you're feeling a little bit confounded by which RB to start during the Super Bowl - or are just curious about how they'll fare - read up on the Super Bowl Comparisons - Running Backs from Lester's Legends.
  • More changes on the Broncos coaching staff - a new QB coach and offensive coordinator plus four new assistants will see what they can do with my high-powered Broncos offense. Considering how much Cutler wanted the previous QB coach Bates to stick around, I'll be interested to see how this new QB relationship develops.
  • Wondering who might be a risky grab for the 2009 season? Read the Bruno Boys' 2009 Red Flag Players, which is chock full of some red hot players from 2007 and 2008.
  • Will LA acquire that NFL team they desire? See the latest news on that front from ESPN.
I'm off to the ol' bowling league tonight. Wish me luck!

71, that's awesome. Enjoy that.

As for D Will with the fourth pick, it's hard to argue based on last year.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha
