Afternoon links & contest updates

Come and get your fantasy love here, friends. I'm in a great mood - just finished up an interview with Melissa from The Football Girl (the podcast will be up in the next few days) and spent basically the whole day at a spa by accident. Well kind of by accident. I was getting my hair cut and my stylist ended up needing to leave in the middle due to a family emergency - while I really didn't mind (family comes first and far, far before hair cuts), the salon bent over backwards to make me feel like a valued new customer and I ended up with a facial, hand massage, a goodie bag of lotions, and the best stylist in the salon to finish up. Trust me, it was good. You ladies out there in Brooklyn (and dudes who like nice a coiffure) who need a new salon, just drop me a line and I'll send along their name.

Anyway, all of this makes me want to put a few more fantasy links up - and of course update you on the FFLibrarian weekly contests. So links first, contest news second:
  • 12StepDrop's Contentious Starts and Sits: Week 7
  • FFManiaxs' Week 7 Start/Sit
  • Pyromaniac's Start 'Em Sit 'Em (new link, would love to know what you all think)
  • The top 5 scorers in all 6 conferences of the monster 96-team FFLibrarian league are:
    • Vick's Cellmate - 165.50 points
    • Beltway Bandits - 160.75 points
    • The Sugar Bakers - 156 points
    • Dangerous Beans - 151.15 points
    • Sweet Thunder - 149.50 points
  • And for the first time this season, one player has won both of my weekly contests with 365FantasySports.com: garywink - congrats Gary! His winning roster in the main pick 2 contest is pasted below. Remember, you can jump into this league any time - the password this week is book7 and here's a good starting point if you haven't participated yet. I've got the pick 2 contest and a salary cap contest up this week; play in one, play in both!

The Pyromaniacs site wasn't too bad. Kind of more of the same compared to all the other sites, but it never hurts to have one more voice that may, at some point, have some useful information.

Got a question while I'm at it. In a league where it costs $5 per move, do you think that it's worth it to make either of these moves:

Drop Devin Hester for Sidney Rice (I have Boldin, Breaston, Colston, Calvin Johnson, Hester)

or

Drop McCoy for Jonathan Stewart or Maroney (I have Forte, Jacobs, Kevin Smith, Ricky Williams, McCoy)?

Ya 2nd highest scorer in the league! Too bad my team's record isn't showing it.
Anon - $5 a move. Wow. I'll try and be cautious here with my advice. Hester has better matchups for the remainder of the season so I think I'd stay put on that one. The RB one is a bit harder for me. I love Maroney's fantasy playoffs schedule and the fact that he's moving on up with the injuries in NE, so I think I would make the switch from McCoy to Maroney. Maroney might only put up good numbers for a few more weeks until Taylor and/or Morris returns, but Westy is looking good enough to keep McCoy limited to 5-10 carries a game. Just not enough. Good luck!

Nicely done, dmbosstone!

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this...

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha...
