Consensus Start/Sit - Week 9

Before we get to the consensus start/sit picks for Week 9, a quick glimpse at a few gems out there:
  • My buddies at FFGeekBlog are offering up a $50 gift card to NFL.com if you can guess the top fantasy QB this week. Check out their site for more details.
  • The Hazean takes an interesting look at the top 12 fantasy players at each position now that we're at the midpoint of the NFL season.
  • Scope out Roger Rotter's Top 10 sleepers for Week 9 - I'm seeing Hasselbeck and Crabtree all over the start lists this week.
  • Always a good read, take a look at FFToday's Inside the Matchup for some hints on what to expect from the running and passing games from a fantasy standpoint. 
Okay, consensus time. Keep in mind that I've gone through all of the sites that I link to with start/sit advice during the week and have tallied up those players with the most start/sit votes, or the most consensus from the experts. So here they are, listed at random:

A little free advice if you please -- choose two from the following list:

Brian Hartline - Pats in NE. Not a great setting for mega FF points.
Santonio Holmes - My leading receiver, but fading fast and your Broncos don't give up the long ball easily. Several sites advise sitting him this week -- but they don't know my roster !!
T.J. Hous. - Good match-up with the Lions - but is Nate Burleson now the go to receiver ?
Josh Morgan - has Crabtree completely taken all his receptions ?

It will probably be a moot point anyway since a certain running back in purple has a bye this week.

Start Housh. He's by far your best option this week and he should have a nice game.

To everyone else, I am going nuts this week with everyone saying "Bench Matt Ryan". I can't wait to see this guy tear it up against the lowly Redskins. He's going to have his best game of the year! Start Matt Ryan with confidence this week!

I'm with Chad O on this one - go with Housh against Detroit's 24th ranked pass (which doesn't even accurately represent just how many fantasy points they give up to WRs) and then I'd start Holmes. I know, I know, he's up against my Broncos but relative to your other options I think he has the most skill and might be able to make things happen. Or at least do more than Hartline and Morgan could...

And Chad O, I hear you on the Matt Ryan front - no love for him from the experts at all. I think it depends on your options but I'm starting Ryan without any fear of a bad game this week. The Skins pass defense is surprisingly solid and they really aren't giving up a ton of fantasy points to opposing QBs, but I wouldn't go crazy and bench Ryan unless you're pretty confident in your other option.

Love your stuff....my problem this week is I have to start either Housh or Crabtree (my #1 is DeSean Jackson). How do you settle that one????

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha
