Feeling merry with Week 13 prep

Tonight I'm headed to Rockefeller Center to watch the big tree lighting extravaganza. I can't seem to get enough of the cheesy holiday NYC traditions. I walked past a row of Christmas trees for sale yesterday and had an overwhelming desire to buy one right then and there...until I had an image in my head of how fun it was to lug our A/C unit into our apartment. And by fun I mean horrible. I imagine a tree is an equally awkward and hefty item to cart around the streets of Brooklyn so I might bow out of the tree option this year.

So it's Wednesday, we've got football on tomorrow night and there's still plenty of time to take in all of the waiver, start/sit, and rankings advice out there. Let's get to it...
Just a reminder to get commenting on the Buffalo Wild Wings website if you'd like a chance to win a BWW $50 gift card. Also, I have another giveaway from BWW to share with you all, my fine readers, but I'm struggling with a good contest. Any thoughts?

Re: contest ideas...not sure of your timing. Did you want results prior to end of regular season?

If so - Week 15 has a juicy CIN/SD game...how about predicting results of that game specifically?

If not - predict the wildcard teams or predict week 17 top scoring QB, RB, WR and TE who are NOT regular starters.

I recommend a 4' tall fake tree (Target usually has some decent ones) and a pine-scented candle - almost as good as the real thing once it's decorated and you can reuse it every year (or at least as long as you're in the apartment).

OR how about this - better connected to BWW site (which they might like, after all):

We all predict your final Week 15 lineup for your BWW team. From those who correctly predict who you wind up starting top to bottom, you'll randomly pull the winner.

I know it's not the same, but Dan is onto something. Get a fake tree and a candle. Great advice Dan.

Leave the fakes alone - buy a couple of boughs/sprigs of real greens from the street vendors and add some pine cones. The fresh scents alone will give you a solid tree alternative. And don't forget the mistletoe!

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha
