This morning as I emerged from the subway (and cursed beautiful Central Park for driving my allergies absolutely bananas) my phone absolutely blew up over the big Brandon Marshall news: my husband texted me the details and I had 3 e-mails waiting for me with the juicy news that my Broncos have (unofficially) traded away Marshall to the Dolphins for a second round pick this year and likely a second rounder in 2011 as well. As a Broncos fan I have mixed feelings on all of the wheeling and dealing since McDaniels arrived, but in the end I think what it comes down to is that we had incredible talent in guys like BMarsh and Cutler, but we certainly weren't going very far with it. So kudos to the boy genius (or so I hope) for grabbing some great picks and here's hoping we up the ante in Denver.

  • Fantasyfootball.com has some short but sweet thoughts on Marshall's move to Miami - there are a host of others that this impacts beyond Marshall and Henne: what's next for Ginn? Or how low does Orton's value go? How about Denver's backfield - does this mean a heavier dose of runs without any sure potency in the receiving game? So much to ponder...
  • Lester's Legends already has the Marshall and Holmes trades reflected in his latest Updated Early Fantasy WR Rankings.
  • SI's Fantasy Clicks takes a good look at a range of fantasy football topics from most impactful rookies in fantasyland to the rise in Mike Wallace's value to rankings of TEs for the 2010 season...and lots, lots more.
  • If you're into the NFL Draft (I'm guessing you are if you're reading up on fantasy football in April) and you're interested in some rankings by position of the incoming rooks, then look no further than the brilliant mind of John Tuvey in The Huddle's 2010 Pre-NFL Draft Player Rankings. Sort of a side note: take advantage of this small window of time before The Huddle material is behind a paywall - it's truly a top-notch site. If you're going to shell out the bucks for any non-free FF analysis this year, The Huddle would be one of my top recommendations.
  • Meanwhile for more draft thoughts but this time of the fantasy variety, see Fantasy Football Xtreme's 2010 Fantasy Football Mock Draft 3.0. You can go back in time to see how it has evolved from their 1.0 and 2.0 mocks earlier in the offseason.
  • FFToolbox has a handy little chart that has somehow gone unnoticed with me thus far - it's their look at Strong Finishers from weeks 12-17 of the 2009 season. I'm pretty intrigued with the idea of late season performances and how they translate into success the following year; but I'm also into the idea of guys who just consistently produce in the latter third of the season. So however you want to spin it, good stuff here.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two.
