Pinning hopes on expert lineup advice

It will come as a surprise to no one that I've researched the heck out of life with a newborn during these first few weeks of his life - and again, probably to no one's surprise, all the research in the world can't quite prepare you for the real deal. But one thing that I'm hoping will come true and evolve just as the research details is the idea that once an infant passes the 6 week mark, that life starts to get easier. I've hung my hopes on these words of wisdom since they come from multiple experts who have dealt with thousands of babies, and who am I to argue with baby experts? Plus I'm more or less desperate to believe that easier days are right around the corner.

You might be feeling the same way about your fantasy teams - maybe your teams are barely still in the race and you're pinning all your playoff hopes on advice from the experts. So if expert advice is what you're looking for, well I've got plenty of it, my friends. Read on for a start/sit-heavy bunch of links:

We're on week seven with our daughter. It gets a *little* easier. She's not quite so fussy at night and she's getting to the point where she smiles and seems to recognize us more. I keep hearing that it's months 3 through 7 that are "the best". We shall see. She's a sweet little thing, either way.

Thanks for the link. The more "practice" you get the easier it gets. Of course once you feel like you have it down, they learn to crawl. New ball game. You get used to that, and it's walking...and talking. They keep you on your toes that's for sure.

it may seem right now to be difficult...annoying...time consuming..or any of a thousand other words...however...you must realize..not just say you realize..but truly understand how precious every day..hour..and second with your children is... every day that passes is one less day you will have them to love and cherish...i raised three by myself..it started out very hard...but got easier as it went along...i decided that laughing at an incredibly stinky diaper instead of being annoyed made everything much more enjoyable and i applied that tack to every other so called disaster...soon it seemed there was joy or humor or strength to be gained from every interaction with my babies..and once they are teenagers you will wish to heaven for those safe sleepless nights...so try to enjoy it all..if you can find even a bit of joy in the tough things..it will make the grinning..burping and farting in its sleep as it cuddles with you even more priceless...

Hang in there! When someone told me that at six weeks things get better I honestly believed there was no way I was going to survive until we reached six weeks. I was so sleep deprived that reaching six weeks seemed to be a complete impossibility. But we did it. And around six weeks he actually started sleeping for two hour stretches at night and that felt like a miracle. Here we are two years in and it does get easier - until you have to deal with daylight savings time and then is sucks all over again.
You are amazing! You can do it.

Shadow32 - three through seven months is pretty sweet.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha
