Show me your fantasy smarts

I have so much awesome fantasy football material for you guys today, it's off the hook. Okay, I've never actually used the phrase "off the hook" - sound natural or what? If a librarian can't pull it off, who can? Let's start with something I'm really excited about...I mentioned this a few weeks ago but the guys at FantasyPros.com are creating a season-long accuracy competition between various FF site readers (and experts!) based on how well you can nail some tough start/sit questions. So I'm asking you guys to head to this link and answer 10 questions sometime between now and Sunday morning, showing off your fantasy acumen. I'll be linking to different start/sit questions from FantasyPros.com every week and it should only take a few minutes of your time. Put your fantasy thinking cap on and make me proud!

Next up, lots of giveaways today. I'm giving away 5 more Pickemfirst Pro subscriptions (see my post from yesterday if you don't know how awesome the Pickemfirst tool is) and 2 season-long subscriptions to Fantasy Football Xtreme. In order to win, e-mail me and let me know which one you'd like or if you would take either one. This is all first come, first served so the first folks I hear from will win! Update: I've given all the subs away!

To today's links...
As a reader recently mentioned in the comments, I'd love for you all to bounce start/sit questions off each other in the comments section. If I could, I would answer everyone who e-mails me but unfortunately between a job, a baby-turned-toddler, and this site (yup, it's a solo operation here) I'm short on free time, but I still want you all to get advice. So by all means, use the comments area and get the FFLibrarian community rolling.

Enjoy the game tonight!

OK, I'll bite. Do I bench Miles Austin for Mario Manningham? It seems like everyone, especially CBS, is downgrading all Cowboys.

I'd lean toward Manningham only because of the looming Revis factor. That coupled with some missed practice time would scare me off of him, but ONLY THIS WEEK. OveralI I believe Austin has a great year.

The Who Should I Start feature is SOOO cool!

If you have posted these already, please forgive, but do you have any recommendations on suicide pool picks?

Ok, Mendenhall against the Ravens D or Tolbert sharing carries with Ryan Matthews? CBS is telling me Mendenhall is a bust this week and Tolbert is a guuy to start -- hard to sit a guy I drafted early in the 2nd round...

And BTW - LOVE this site - an absolute must-visit every week

Okay, which two RBs should get the nod this week? Ray Rice vs. Pit, Jahvid Best, Tim Hightower, Fred Jackson, Mark Tolbert, or Mike Ingram? Any suggestions? Thanks/

For Dan--
You didn't draft Ray Rice to sit him, and then I would choose between Best and Hightower. Giants are starting a 3rd-string rookie MLB and Justin Tuck is practicing hurt. You know what Best can do when healthy.

I'm all in.

Felix Jones vs Jets or Mark Ingram in his first game vs Packers? .5 ppr

Oh. And I'd start Manningham over Austin, I'd go with Mendenhall vs Baltimore (he scored in both meetings last year with love yd totals), Rice and Best (no doubt).

I think you gotta start Mendy regardless of opponent. He is the focal point of the offense and my personal feeling is the Ravens D is aging a bit. 1st team D looked terrible vs Wash in preseason, as Hightower blew em up

Flex spot (non-ppr)

DeAngelo Williams vs ARZ

or

Chad Ocho Cinco vs MIA

I agree - you should start Mendenhall. The Ravens D really isn't what it once was.

I'm trying to choose between Addai and Santana Moss for the flex. Normally I err on the side of running back at the flex, but I just don't know what to expect from the Colts run game.

For 5:08--
Start D'Angelo. I have him in my flex spot and am riled up. They gave him mucho cash, so they'll give him 20 touches.

If it was PPR, I'd give it some more thought, but in non-PPR I don't think it's a tough choice. Welker and the TEs will eat all of Ocho's targets.

Anon@ 12:36: I would bench manningham. Even though they are playing the jets, miles is still their #1, and manny is still NY's #2.
Anon@ 2:12: Hard to sit mendy... Tolbert might get some touches, but I'm betting that rivers throws the hell out if the ball.
Dan: you can't sit ray ray. Even vs. The Pitt D, he should get a lot of dump outs thrown his way. He's probably your #1 draft pick, and you should never sit him. Then I would go Best, as anon@3:26 said, when he is healthy he is a beast.
Anthony: I would go with Felix, similar to rice, playing a good D but catches a lot of dump offs, he should get points even if he doesn't score.
Anon@5:08: DWill
Anon@5:58: I would go with addai, no manning means that they will be pounding the ground, and Houston is playing it's 1st game with a new D coordinator.

Good luck everybody !!!

Hey guys would you roll with Gronk or J Cook at TE?
I like cooks matchup more, but I feel like Gronk could be safer....

I asked about Mendenhall or Tolbert - Thanks for nothing!

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this...

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha...
