Turning 2

This weekend is a big one in the FFLibrarian house: our son turns 2 on Sunday. I've been teaching him "it's my birthday" and "I'm two" this week but I doubt he's going to spontaneously spout these off during the celebrations. Sunday also marks the one month mark since I delivered our stillborn daughter, adding an element of the bittersweet to the day. I think of her every day, heck, some days I see or feel reminders of her all day long. But I have this playful, loving, silly little boy here in my arms. I take one look at his face, which is very clearly from his daddy, and his suddenly floppy hair (how is it that a 2 yo can be sporting Justin Bieber-esque hair?) and his smile, which are both very clearly from me, and I am grateful down to the very deepest part of my being that I am where I am today. I promise not to blabber on too much this fall about our family and its ups and downs...just want you to know that we're hanging in there, we're d...

Week 4 waiver prep

I'll be honest, I was snuggled in bed last night when the MNF game ended so I woke up this morning to the photos, tweets, and articles about the controversial TD. I know many of us are outraged over this season's many ref guffaws, but it is what it is and I'd rather not focus on it too much, there are just too many other things in life to ponder as far as I'm concerned. That said, we all know that when Gruden isn't gushing with compliments and praise that something must be really wrong...so if you want a way to voice your outrage, try this petition on change.org to end the referee lockout, though I'm sure there are plenty of others out there. Back to the ATL

This weekend we're getting back on the road and heading to Atlanta again. I know, we were just there a few days ago for MNF, but this time we're bringing our son with us to visit with my brother-in-law and his family and doing a whole lot of kiddo-centered things. They have a daughter who is a few months younger than our son and are expecting their second daughter in about 4-5 weeks, so we thought we'd squeeze in one last trip to see them before their new baby arrives. Should be a good time though probably not exactly full of time for NFL research, so I'm trying to crank out a bunch of my pre-game studies before we hit the road. So let's get right to it: Start and sit links: Roto Arcade's Lames: Owners, replacement refs could be disappointed with McCoy's effort in desert and Flames: Michael Bush, Bears set to shear Rams The Fifth Down's Week 3 in Fantasy Football: Favorable and Unfavorable Matchups The Hazean's Love/Hate Week 3 FantasySharks....

Week 3 waiver suggestions

Oooof. That's the sound of my fantasy teams taking a stomach punch this weekend. And coincidentally the sound I made when Peyton threw his third interception last night. It was momentarily brutal in the Georgia Dome, my friends. Eh, more than momentarily - between the officiating chaos and the Broncos' turnover madness, it was just kind of a bizarro game there for awhile for Broncos fans. But well worth the trip to spend time with our family and see the Broncos in person. In the meantime, I have a lot of injuries in my leagues and other is-this-an-injury-or-what question marks like Julio Jones and Jamaal Charles. So I'm all about the waiver wire options this week: Rotoworld's Replacing Hernandez CBSSports.com's Waiver Wire: No shortage of upgrades FootballDocs.com's Waiver Wire Yahoo's Pickups of the Week FFToday.coms Through the Wire Fantasy Football Jungle's Waiver Wire: Week 3  Athlon Sports' Waiver Wire: Week 3 NFL.com goes video styl...

Finding the awesomeness

I mentioned on here awhile back that our house is under construction and has been now for about 5-6 weeks or so. It has been quite the summer here between the chaos of our house (which has included learning of extensive water and termite damage...sweet, right? I have the termite guy's phone number memorized and our son now starts every morning by asking for the construction crew individually by name) and losing our Caroline. So I'm pretty sure my husband and I have been actively seeking out things that just feel fun and joyful. Earlier this week my brother-in-law called and convinced us to drive down to Atlanta (where he lives) next Monday for the Broncos at Falcons MNF game. We'll go down and back all in the span of 15 hours and my in-laws are happily taking over the care of our son for that time period. I can't tell you how excited I am for this. A road trip with my husband plus a Monday Night Football game watching my Broncos, all while my little boy is being lovingl...

Football, fair, and fun

Our family is headed to the Tennessee Valley Fair this afternoon with some friends and I honestly have no clue what to expect having never hit up a state fair before, particularly with a toddler who wants to be a part of just about everything, everywhere, at all moments - all I know is that I already missed the MC Hammer concert at the fair last week. So with that knowledge in hand, this thing is going to be awesome, right?! I hope you all enjoyed Week 1 - this is the first year that our house is 100% on the Broncos now that my husband's beloved Peyton Manning has joined my beloved Broncos. It's intense in the FFLibrarian household. We were working on a way to make it down to Atlanta for the MNF game (Broncos at Falcons) next week, but my husband teaches at the university here and just can't justify cancelling class for MNF. At least not this year... But let's head on over to today's links: First up, if you need a refresher on how any of the games went, take a...

Week 1 has arrived!

Hello my friends. I think I've written this intro paragraph about 5 times now, trying to figure out what to say after my hiatus and the loss of our daughter, Caroline. But I have no idea what to tell you other than I am here, I am surviving, and I am attempting to channel my sorrow into something productive by getting back to blogging. I will be forever grateful for the support you all have shown me. If anyone is ever in a similar situation and wants someone to talk to, send them my way . I don't have the right words for this (who does?) but I have all the time in the world to listen and do what I can to help. Do me a favor and when you get a chance, please hug your kiddos, spouse, parents, siblings (special thanks to my extraordinary sister for her love this week and always; she's a FF newbie this year, too, by the way), your best friend, your cat, your coworker, your bus driver, your favorite bartender, your UPS guy (we see him a LOT at our house), heck even your cup of...
