Silver lining

When we lived in Brooklyn we spent a year living on the 36th floor of our apartment building and I've spent much time over the course of Sandy wondering about what our circumstances would have been were we still living there. There are some crazy photos out there from our old neighborhood and the area near our son's old daycare - insanity. I know my family is still stuck without power in the DC area and likely many of you are in a similar situation. Safe, warm, and dry thoughts to all of you affected by the storm. Amidst the chaos of the storm, my family has something beautiful to celebrate: my brother-in-law and sister-in-law welcomed their second daughter into the world early this morning. We're off to Atlanta on Thursday to meet her, but I hope to get my start/sit and rankings links up to you before we head out of town. In the meantime, let's take a look at some waiver wire links: IDPers, today you come first: FantasySharks.com's IDP waiver Wire - Week 9 ...

Week 8 start/sit, rankings

I had this afternoon free of any job or parental duties so I took up to the polls and voted early. I showed up with my book in hand ready to wait it out ( The Imperfectionists for anyone looking for a solid fiction read or go here to find at your local library) but happily found myself in-and-out within about 8 minutes. Not too shabby, Tennessee. Also not too shabby? Tonight's matchup. I think Week 7 did wonders for my interest in the Bucs so now I'm kind of interested in how the game pans out tonight. Week 8 prep: waiver up

For nearly the past 3 months, our house has been under construction as I'm sure I've mentioned on here a few times. Today marks they day that they're about 99% done, but most of all, the big orange dumpster outside of our house was finally removed. Most of the construction was about correcting some major water and termite damage but in that process we also got a new sunroom/playroom and I adore it. So while we're about a month over schedule and way, way over the original budget, now we have this space that so far all the humans and felines in our house seem to gravitate toward. It brings me happiness, which I know is a strange thing to say about a room, but then again Chris Johnson's huge performance on Sunday was also a source of some joy (didn't really think I'd be saying that this season). On the other hand, in that same dynasty league I also have MJD, so the overall status of my RBs there is very iffy. If you're also an MJD owner looking to the wire...

Friday start/sit and rankings

This week I have made tracks on the whole Halloween thing: we've got a big bag of candy ready to hand out, we've got a monkey costume for our son, and we've got one of those classic plastic pumpkin trick-or-treat things for him, too. This will be the first year that we take our son trick-or-treating and I'm kind of curious about how the whole candy thing goes. Does his candy just magically disappear overnight? Does it get doled out very slowly over the coming months? He's the kind of dude that subsists on crackers and air some most days and yet he's figured out that candy is delicious and should be hunted down at all costs. I'd like to inject spinach into a Reeses PB cup and hand that puppy over to him, but alas the candy companies haven't gotten on board with that one yet. We'll see how it all goes but for now I'm leaning towards the most-of-the-candy-leaves-the-house-immediately approach since my son's sugar intake and my ability to be an ...

The waivering continues

So I posted last night's links right around halftime of the MNF game. Whoa. Holy second half, Broncos. Frankly, I don't make an effort to stay up for many second halves of Monday night games; just too late with our son raring to go so early in the morning. But since it was the Broncos we knew we were going to stay up until the outcome of the game was fairly clear...and what a glorious outcome it was, at least for Bronco fans. In case you're interested in a few more suggestions before putting your waiver claims in, I've got several more links for you today. Read on. Back on the FF grid

Greetings, long lost fantasy football friends. I went off the grid there for a bit - my family took a vacation back to Colorado where my husband and I used to live, and I kept thinking I'd have a moment to get a post up...but things got hectic. We stayed in this awesome cottage in Boulder that had pretty limited internet access so honestly, not sure I would've been super helpful last week anyway. I got desperate messages from my sister on Sunday that her team was in dire straits so hopefully I didn't leave anyone in the lurch here other than my sis. I'm attempting to enjoy this MNF game but the Broncos' miserable play thus far is making it difficult. Oh wait, hey, there's another SD touchdown. Ouch. I think it's time to pepper in a few links. Were you perhaps stuck on an airplane at O'Hare with an unhappy 2-year-old during a 90 minute weather delay, therefore missing nearly all of Sunday's games? If you were in my boat or something similar, here ...

Bonus links for Week 5

Flying into Week 5

My husband is off to a conference for the weekend in the mountains of Colorado (those economists, they always have the coolest locales for conferences...) and all morning long my son was saying "my airplane" and finally I figured out that he desperately wants to be on that plane with his daddy. Good news, little man, because next week we're actually all hopping on a plane and going right back to Colorado, this time for pure pleasure and fun. We've rented a baby backpack and jogging stroller and we're going to hit some of our old haunts and favorite trails in Boulder, and see some of our awesome friends. Can't wait. In the meantime, I'm off to the library to find some good airplane books for our son, but here you have your Thursday guide to Week 5 with a bunch of start/sit, rankings, and more. Enjoy! Waiver wire link explosion

You would think we're running a toy store here based on the quantity of presents that have exploded in our house after our son's birthday this weekend. As I've mentioned, part of our house is under construction, including a playroom type space so most of these toys are now very much front and center, in our living, eating, breathing space. All 2-year-olds are welcome...not much else could possibly happen in this space. Oh wait, maybe fantasy football blogging. In the meantime, there's plenty of waiver wiring going on right now as we now have 4 teams on bye this week. And some other good stuff, too. Let's have at it: If you were say celebrating a 2 yo's birthday all day on Sunday and need some recaps from the weekend still, take a look at one of these two: Roto Arcade's Sunday Scene, Week 4 Roto Experts' Royal Film Room: Eyes on Chris Johnson and RG3   Or if you need some background for trades, try JuanElway.com's Bait and Switch Waiver wire...
