Streaming Defenses - Week 8

Bob is back with another week of streaming defense options, so read on!
Welcome to Week 8 streaming defenses. This week there are 6 bye teams making it a bit harder to find values in defenses. Even though most highly owned are still playing, one of the latest stream options are on bye, the Ravens, and 2 of our favorite targets are on bye as well, the Rams and 49ers. So I will include some desperation picks on defenses along with some decent opportunities. First let’s look at last week, since I believe in backing up projections.

It was a tough week for most defenses last week. BUF was a big dud, and the Patriots disappointed even against a backup QB. PHI surprised and is on to the highly owned tier, deservedly so. I warned you about PIT, and still don’t like them. HOU and TEN disappointed as streamers as well. Even taking PIT out of the equation the highly owned only garnered 1 point better on average than the streamers. So shout outs to the Ravens, Bengals and Packers for keeping us afloat in week 7.

As I state above it’s going to be a tough week for streamers, but I like 4 teams well enough and give you 2 desperation picks if you need them. The highly owned look pretty good except for BUF. Beware starting BUF. Here’s this week’s projections.

The Chargers allow about 10 points per game no matter who they face. Facing the Broncos they will give up a few more. Start the Broncos as always.

Did you know the Panthers allow the 3rd most points to Defs? And they face a top defense this week. Start ARI with confidence, even on the road.

This one will get ugly, look for double digits from the MIN defense this week. Start with confidence.
NEP
@BUF

BUF has no one to throw to anymore, and their running game is hurting. NEP will spy Taylor all day and bring home some def points in the process. Start the Patriots and expect big returns.
SEA

SEA is turning the Def up lately. They will do some damage to NO this week, start 'em as usual.
BUF

Uh oh, NEP is coming to town, and the Pats give up the 3rd least points to Defs. Look elsewhere.
PHI

The Cowboys have given up the least points to Defs to date, but they have yet to meet a top 10 defense. That will change this week. Eagles are averaging 16 points a game, and they will get their share this week too. Start ‘em.

Last time the Colts faced a top 10 def, they gave up 26 points. Chiefs are a top 10 def and a great stream this week. #1 stream.
TEN
JAC

JAC is back to being a good target and the Titans have turned it up lately in spite of last week's bad turn. The Titans get back to form and are the 2nd best stream.
NYJ

The Jets looked better last week and stopped the ground game cold. Cle is still a great target averaging 10 points/game to just about any defense. Jets make the 3rd best stream.
CAR

CAR has fallen off lately and face a high powered Off in ARI. I think this will be another low scoring slugfest, and CAR will score some def points, just not a ton. But there aren't many other options this week, so I make them the 4th best stream.
DAL
PHI

I'm including DAL this week as one of two desperation starts. Wentz has been falling in performance and with DAL at home, this could be a decent desperation start.
CLE

In another desperation start, pick the Browns who play the #1 team in giving up points/game. There should be a few points to gain here by Cle, yes I said Cle.

Keep the feedback coming and good luck on a tough week.

Labor Day FF links

Happy long weekend! Here's hoping most of you are free to enjoy the 3-day weekend and the relaxation and fun that comes with it. I spent my Sunday participating in 3 fantasy football drafts scattered throughout the day and night, but I think I've finally wrapped up my drafts for the year. So like many of you I'm now turning my attention to the Week 1 games! But before we get to some player rankings and prep for Week 1, I want to make sure that all you experts out there are aware of the upcoming deadline for the annual accuracy contest that I run with the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I compare preseason positional rankings from experts to the final outcome of the fantasy season to see which site had the most accurate preseason rankings, and this year's deadline is fast approaching: September 9th by kickoff. Check out the info on the FSTA site for more details and be sure to e-mail me your submissions. Now, onto Week 1! First up, let's get to some of this

2010 Week 2 consensus start/sit

Greetings and happy weekend. I've got this week's consensus start/sit for you which is a tally of all the start/sit votes that players received in the various start/sit articles that I linked to earlier in the week. So while these aren't my personal recommendations, I do think knowing what the consensus is could be of help when making lineup decisions...so enjoy! Note: the players are listed in no particular order. QB Start: Michael Vick, Kyle Orton, Matt Ryan, Jason Campbell Sit: David Garrard, Alex Smith, Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Carson Palmer RB Start: LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson Sit: Tim Hightower, C.J. A hiatus

Update:  It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that yesterday, August 30th, I delivered our stillborn daughter, Caroline Mary. This has been an almost surreal and definitely heartbreaking experience and I appreciate the support in each and every one of your notes. Caroline will be honored and loved always. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your thoughts and prayers - they mean the world to our family. I have been a very poor blogger this month and feel I owe you all an explanation, particularly as this is crunch time for draft prep. I hope this is not too personal of a look into my life since I know most of you are just here for the football. I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant and we have learned that our baby (a little girl!) has triploidy, a chromosomal abnormality that means she has three copies of every chromosome instead of the normal two. The doctors have explained that it's a completely random occurrence and fairly rare that she has made it this far along, but tha
